WHAT TO EXPECT
-
1. CONSULTATION
We’ll discuss your history, existing tissue or scarring, desired outcome, and any questions you have. For post-surgical clients, we’ll also confirm that you’re at an appropriate stage of healing before tattooing.
-
2 · DESIGN + COLOR
Your areola design is customized to your anatomy, skin tone, existing tissue, and goals. Together, we’ll determine placement, size, shape, and color before tattooing begins.
-
3 · TATTOO SESSION
Using custom-blended pigments and dimensional tattoo techniques, Kimberly carefully builds color, shading, and detail to create a natural-looking result.
-
4 · HEALING
Your tattoo will initially appear more saturated before gradually softening as the skin heals. You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions to support the healing process.
-
5 · PERFECTING SESSION
Once fully healed, we’ll evaluate pigment retention, color, and dimension and make refinements as needed. One perfecting session is included with unilateral and bilateral 3D Areola Tattoo services.
IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATION
-
All new 3D Areola Tattoo clients begin with a consultation so we can discuss your goals, assess the treatment area, and determine whether tattooing is appropriate at this time.
-
If you've had breast surgery or reconstruction, the area must be fully healed before tattooing. Timing varies depending on the procedure and your individual healing. Physician clearance may be requested when appropriate.
-
Surgical scars generally need adequate time to mature before they are tattooed. Scar tissue can also respond differently to pigment, which will be considered when planning your treatment.
-
Unilateral 3D Areola Tattoo · starting at $650
Bilateral 3D Areola Tattoo · starting at $850Standard pricing includes custom design, the initial tattoo session, and one perfecting session scheduled 6-10 weeks after your initial session. FAQS
-
The tattoo itself is flat. Carefully placed color, shading, highlights, and detail are used to create the visual illusion of dimension, including the appearance of a projected nipple when one is not physically present.
-
The treatment area should be completely healed and surgical scars sufficiently mature before tattooing. The appropriate timing varies based on your surgery, healing, and any ongoing treatment. If there is any question about whether you're ready, clearance from your physician may be requested.
-
Not everyone will require physician clearance. However, it may be requested following certain surgeries, treatments, complications, or when there are concerns about healing or the safety of tattooing the area.
-
Sensation varies significantly depending on the treatment area and type of surgery or reconstruction you've had. Some post-reconstruction clients have reduced sensation, while clients with existing natural tissue may experience more sensitivity. Comfort will be monitored throughout your appointment.
-
3D Areola Tattooing is generally approached as a two-session process. Your initial session creates the design, color, and dimension, while the included perfecting session allows us to evaluate the healed result and refine areas where pigment may have healed lighter or unevenly.
-
Areola tattoos are considered permanent, but pigment will gradually soften and fade over time. Longevity varies based on skin, scar tissue, pigment retention, sun exposure, lifestyle, and other individual factors. Future color refreshing may be desired.
-
In many cases, yes — once the scar is sufficiently healed and mature. Scar tissue can retain pigment differently from unaffected skin, so the area will be evaluated before treatment and expectations discussed during your consultation.
-
Yes. For unilateral tattooing, pigment, size, shape, placement, and visual details can be customized to complement the existing areola as closely as possible. Natural differences between the two sides are expected, just as they are with natural anatomy.
-
Yes. Areola tattooing can be used to enhance or modify the visual appearance of existing nipple and areola tissue, including adjustments to apparent size, shape, color, symmetry, and dimension. Each treatment is individualized to your anatomy and aesthetic goals.
-
That's exactly where 3D tattoo techniques can be especially impactful. An areola and the visual appearance of a nipple can be created entirely with tattoo pigment, shading, highlights, and dimensional artistry even when there is no physical nipple projection.
